APhA Foundation Announces 25th Annual Pinnacle Award Recipients

WASHINGTON, DC – The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Foundation today announced the recipients of the 2022 Pinnacle Awards. Established in 1998, the annual Pinnacle Awards celebrate significant contributions to the medication use process that lead to enhancements such as:  increasing patient adherence, reducing adverse drug events, promoting the use of national treatment guidelines, improving patient outcomes, and enhancing communication among the members of the healthcare team.


“The APhA Foundation is delighted to honor the 2022 Pinnacle Award recipients and their important work to optimize medication usage,” said APhA Foundation Executive Director and SVP, Research & Innovation, Benjamin Bluml, RPh. “For 25 years, the Pinnacle Awards have recognized excellence in medication use with an emphasis on transformative innovations that include pharmacists in improving health care within the communities they serve.”


The 2022 Pinnacle Award Recipients and Categories:


Brian L. Erstad, PharmD, MCCM, FCCP, FASHP, BCPSCATEGORY I: Individual Award for Career AchievementThis category recognizes individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in enhancing healthcare quality and medication use.

Houston Methodist CATEGORY II: Group Practices, Health Systems, and Healthcare CorporationsThis category recognizes a significant scientific contribution and/or quality improvement project.


Daily Planet Health Services, Inc.CATEGORY III: Voluntary Health Agencies, Nonprofit Organizations, Associations, Government Agencies and Public/Private PartnershipsThis category recognizes organizations that have demonstrated approaches to assist patients and their caregivers in achieving better outcomes from their medications.

Support for the Pinnacle Awards Program is provided by an educational grant from Merck.

 

The Innovations in Pharmacy Practice Lecture, which is part of the Pinnacle Awards Program, will be delivered by CATEGORY III award recipients, Patricia Cook, MD, FACP, FAAP and Jean-Venable "Kelly" R. Goode, PharmD, BCPS,FAPhA, FCCP.  Cook is Chief Medical Office and Goode is Chief Pharmacist for Daily Planet Health Services, Inc. in Richmond, VA.
