Kala Oliver

The University of Texas at Tyler Ben and Maytee Fisch College of Pharmacy

Kala Oliver is a second-year student pharmacist at The University of Texas at Tyler Ben and Maytee Fisch College of Pharmacy and an active leader within the American Pharmacists Association–Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP). Her involvement in pharmacy organizations has shaped her passion for advocacy, leadership, and advancing patient-centered care.
Within APhA-ASP, Kala serves as Chair of Operation Heart, where she leads cardiovascular health education initiatives and community outreach focused on prevention, patient education, and health equity. She also serves as Class President for the 2025–2026 academic year and President-Elect of the Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists (SSHP). Additionally, she is the Assistant Head Initiative Chair for the Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA), supporting collaborative programming and leadership development.
Kala is an Area Health Education Center (AHEC) Scholar, dedicating time to serving underserved and rural populations through interprofessional education and community engagement. She works as a pharmacy intern in a hospital setting, gaining experience in interprofessional collaboration and clinical decision-making, and previously worked in an independent community pharmacy. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from East Texas Baptist University and served as a chemistry tutor, experiences that support her interest in teaching and pharmacy education research focused on academic preparedness and student success.
With professional interests in clinical pharmacy, infectious diseases, and academia, Kala aspires to pursue a career that integrates clinical practice, teaching, scholarship, and advocacy to advance patient outcomes and strengthen the pharmacy profession.
