Cassie Rich

Mary Munson Runge Scholarship

University of Georgia College of Pharmacy

Cassie Rich is a second‑year student pharmacist at the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy and the first medical professional in her family. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from the Georgia Institute of Technology, where she developed a strong interest in pursuing a career in healthcare.

Cassie became involved in APhA‑ASP as the first-year liaison and later served as president‑elect before transitioning into her current role as chapter president. After advocating for pharmacy issues in Washington, D.C. during the Student Leadership Institute, she saw firsthand how policy and advocacy can improve patient care and advance the pharmacy profession. Her dedication to patient care is also deeply personal, shaped by watching her mother battle lung cancer and witnessing the essential role pharmacists play in her treatment. Cassie also serves as the APhA‑ASP Region 3 Regional Delegate, where she works to strengthen student engagement in the policy process.

Her dedication to public service has led her to organize several patient care initiatives, including coordinating the packing and delivery of 100 care packages to the local cancer center and to diabetic patients at a low‑cost clinic. Outside of APhA, she is a member of Phi Lambda Sigma Leadership Society, the Georgia Pharmacy Association, and the Georgia Society of Health‑System Pharmacists. She also works as a Publix pharmacy intern and conducts research on precision medicine approaches in anticoagulation.

Cassie plans to pursue a residency following graduation and practice in critical care or emergency medicine clinical pharmacy.
