Alexandra (Aya) Haworth

Ton Hoek Scholarship

University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy

Aya is a third-year pharmacy student at the University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy, where she also earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology. Since beginning pharmacy school, she has been an active member of her APhA–ASP chapter, serving as Policy Chair, Policy Vice President, and most recently, Region 6 Delegate. She remains committed to pharmacy advocacy and will represent her college at the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) RxIMPACT Day on Capitol Hill in March 2026.

Beyond advocacy, Aya serves as co-chair of her school’s “Rx-A-Wish” committee, which partners with Make-A-Wish Oklahoma to sponsor a child’s wish each year. She also has a strong interest in research focused on financial assistance programs for uninsured and underinsured patients. For more than two years, she has worked as a pharmacy benefits intern for Oklahoma Medicaid, where she has developed patient education resources on diabetes and heart disease, evaluated outcomes of the Medication Therapy Management program, and supported additional claims-based research initiatives.

After completing pharmacy school, Aya hopes to pursue an industry fellowship in Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) to continue advancing health outcomes for underserved communities. She aims to leverage her experience with Medicaid and her growing knowledge of global health systems to help expand access to essential medications.
