Alexandra Burklo

Thomas E. Menighan Leadership Scholarship

Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy

Alexandra (Alex) Burklo is a fourth-year pharmacy student at Ohio Northern Universities Raabe College of Pharmacy. Her passion for pharmacy began in high school when she applied for a job at a local independent pharmacy. Here she learned how impactful a pharmacist is to patient health outcomes, especially in rural and underserved communities.

She has since discovered a passion for leadership and service through her many involvements in and outside of the college. She currently serves as the President and founder of the Polar Research Club, Vice President of Network for Collaborative Oncology Development & Advancement (NCODA), WCOSHP Liaison for the Student Society of Health System Pharmacists (SSHP), Social Affairs Chair for Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity, P4 Representative on the Curricular Committee, and Vice President of Leadership of the service fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega. She continues to express her love for the profession through her on-campus research where she explores the effect of antifungal drug therapy on melanoma cells. More directly, she has planned two bone marrow registry drives and works in the inpatient pharmacy at a local hospital multiple times a month to be able to serve the local and national community.

Outside pharmacy, Alex is currently planning a wedding and caring for her new puppy with her Fiancé. Both in the profession of pharmacy and her home life, Alex strives to lead and care for those who are around her.
