Pharmacist-led Patient Counseling to Increase GLP-1 Persistence Plus Diet Success and Satisfaction

I am so incredibly grateful and honored to be a recipient of the APhA Incentive Grant. As the need for medical care continues to increase and expand, it is so important that we as pharmacists use our expertise in ways we are equipped and prepared to do. It is so exciting to continue to find innovative services and care, especially in helping patients navigate a world and language which they may not be accustomed to.
I recognized that the cost for many patients was a barrier for obtaining and using GLP-1 medications. I wanted to investigate if having a discussion on cost barriers prior to their initial pick up of the starting dose of medication would increase persistence, improve outcomes, end goal expectations, and overall satisfaction. I really wanted to help them navigate the whole process.
Pharmacists are so well placed in being able to help and take care of patients. I'm excited to be able to continue to expand and improve the care we can provide. The Incentive Grant will allow me to recruit more help to be able expand our outreach.
