Factors influencing provider utilization of pharmacy collaborative drug therapy management agreements at a federally qualified health center

I am honored to receive an Incentive Grant to explore various factors influencing provider utilization of pharmacy collaborative drug therapy management (CDTM) agreements at a federally qualified health center (FQHC).
The motivation behind this project was to better understand the behavioral factors that influence providers' use of pharmacy CDTM agreements at an FQHC. We were interested to see why providers heavily utilized CDTM agreements for certain disease states when CDTM agreements in place for other disease states go mostly unused. This information will help inform pharmacists in the clinic setting, especially in FQHCs, on factors to consider when creating or modifying CDTM agreements at their practice site.
What excites me most about this project is the practicality of it, both for the clinical pharmacists at my site and at other similar sites across the nation. The use of pharmacy CDTM or collaborative practice agreements continues to expand and to show improved patient outcomes for several chronic disease states. I'm excited to provide more insight into what factors impact provider use of these agreements.
