Colorado Health Professional Students’ Awareness and Perceptions of Community Pharmacist-Provided Clinical Services

Community pharmacists in Colorado can provide far more clinical services than many prescribers realize, and by targeting future prescribers, we can help educate and shape the evolving role of the community pharmacist.
My motivation was inspired by the growing role of community pharmacists in Colorado by providing direct patient care through prescribing and clinical services. I wanted to understand how future health professionals perceive these services and where gaps in awareness may exist. This work aims to highlight the value of community pharmacists as accessible healthcare providers and strengthen inter-professional collaboration in patient care.
I’m most excited that this project will give me the opportunity to contribute to research that highlights the impact of pharmacists in direct patient care and will bring awareness of pharmacist-provided services. It’s rewarding to have APhA’s support in advancing a topic that aligns so closely with my professional goals in ambulatory care and patient-centered pharmacy practice.
