Robert D. Gibson Scholarship
Dr. Robert D. Gibson received his BA from the University of Oregon, BS. Pharm.D. from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and Sc.D. (hon.) from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. He served as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Academic Affairs, Associate Dean for Professional Affairs at the School of Pharmacy and Director of the Pharmaceutical Technology Laboratory at UCSF. He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Access to Medical Solutions, SF Ambulatory Health Care Facility Corporation and Molecular Delivery Corporation. In 2006, he received The Remington Honor Medal, the profession of pharmacy’s highest honor. Other awards he received include: the Fulbright/Hayes Scholarship, Distinguished Alumnus and Martin Luther King Award from the University of California, Pharmacist of the Year from the Association of Black Hospital Pharmacists, and the Fellow of the Academy of Pharmaceutical Research and Sciences from the American Pharmacist Association (APhA). He was elected and served as President of the APhA in 2001 and as President of the UCSF Alumni Association in 2003. He served as Vice President of the Pharmacists Planning Services, a member of the Board of Trustees of the UCSF Pharmacy Alumni Association, and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Marin County Pharmacists Association. During Dr. Gibson’s career, he participated in over 130 lectures nationally and internationally including seminars, keynote speeches and various Colleges/School of Pharmacy Commencement Programs. His work was published in over 50 journals, articles, and book chapters. He was a member of the APhA, American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, Association of Black Hospital Pharmacists, Marin County Pharmacists Association, and the Federation Internationale Pharmaceutique.

The Robert D. Gibson Scholarship is presented annually to one (1) recipient with a scholarship of $1,000.
