Nancy Alvarez, Director

Alvarez is a native of Phoenix, Arizona where she completed her pharmacy training at the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy in Tucson. She worked for Walgreen’s serving as a pharmacy manager before transitioning to hospice pharmacia (eventually known as excellRx) where she was a site director and managed a practice caring for patients at the end of their lives. She relocated to Philadelphia, PA with this company and oversaw the development and expansion of its call center and migrated into leading end of life educational efforts for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Next, she joined the Medical Affairs Team at Endo Pharmaceuticals in Chadds Ford and after 12 years joined the faculty and founding leadership team for a new school of pharmacy in Southern California. In the last few years, she has returned to her alma mater where she is the Associate Dean for Academic and Professional Affairs at the R. Ken Coit College of Pharmacy (RKCCOP) – Phoenix Campus, an associate professor of practice, and the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for both the RKCCOP Phoenix and Tucson Campuses. Alvarez is a former president of APhA and an APhA Fellow.
