Shiyar (Shy) Kapan, Pharm.D. is the 2022-2023 Rutgers Pharmaceutical Industry Fellowship (RPIF) Post-Doctoral Fellow in Conjunction with Pfizer Hospital for U.S./Global Medical Affairs in New York City. Outside of the fellowship program he is a member of the APhA-APPM Pharmacy Residency Education and Training Subcommittee and the Overall Standing Committee.
Shy obtained his B.S. in Chemistry and Minor in Business Administration at the University of TN–Knoxville and his B.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences & PharmD from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) in Memphis, TN.
Projects during his fellowship have included Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives via provider-driven content. Current responsibilities focus on strategizing methods to identify and address health care disparities patient populations face when accessing the United States healthcare system and evaluate current practices in the system that tackle these challenges.
His goal is to understand the impact of disease states within a wide range of population demographics on a global basis to increase access to healthcare services and resources, particularly in underserved and marginalized communities.
