2018 Marvin and Joanell Dyrstad Scholarship Recipient

Annie Stella

Drake University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences

Annie is a fourth-year student pharmacist with a passion for policy and advocacy. Annie got involved with APhA-ASP her first year of pharmacy school thanks to the urging of a couple of her mentors. They showed her by the way they practiced, the power a pharmacist could have on patients and the profession through professional engagement. She served as the Policy Vice President for the Drake University APhA-ASP chapter for two years from 2015-2017, the Region 5 Regional Delegate from 2015-2016, a committee member for the ASP National Nominating Committee in 2017, and as the student representative on the APhA Policy Committee from 2017-2018. Annie has also been very involved with the Iowa Pharmacy Association. Annie hopes to continue her involvement with APhA after graduation by getting involved in the APhA New Practitioner Network. She plans to pursue a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency with hopes of committing to a PGY2 Specialty Residency.

On any particular day, you might find Annie training for a road race, cooking up a healthy new recipe, or at a coffee shop enjoying authentic friendship with others. Annie's life motto is, “You were not made to fit in, you were born to stand out.”

Annie says, "Stand out my friends, you were born to do so."
