Maliha tabassum

LONG ISLAND UNIVERSITY THE ARNOLD & MARIE SCHWARTZ COLLEGE OF PHARMACY AND HEALTH SCIENCES

Maliha Tabassum is a fifth year pharmacy student from Long Island University in Brooklyn, New York. She graduated from The City College of New York with bachelors in biology and minor in chemistry. She has been actively involved in the American Pharmacists Association – Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) throughout her journey as a professional student pharmacist. She is currently serving as Chapter President at LIU APhA-ASP and has served as Chapter President elect. 

As a student pharmacist, she has contributed to the success of the American Pharmacists Association-Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) chapter at LIU. Within one semester alone participation, she brought about a huge revival of APhA member participation, leading approximately 470 pharmacy students and influenced an astounding 35 students to attend Midyear Regional Meeting 2019. She was also responsible for development of the Mental Health Awareness project at LIU APhA-ASP. In addition to her leadership at APhA-ASP, she currently serves as the treasurer at the Phi Lambda Sigma Honor society. She is also actively involved in the Pharmacists Society of the State of New York and Bangladeshi American Pharmacist Association. She is very passionate about oncology and has done several research projects in that field. She is currently employed with New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center, CVS Pharmacy and Rockaway Long term care along with previous experience in pharmaceutical industry setting. 

Maliha believes that her achievement is not solely hers, she is grateful to her family, mentors, professors and friends who have believed in her greater potential. She hopes to inspire and create opportunities for others to become fearless authentic leaders.
