Tessa Schnelle

UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS SCHOOL OF PHARMACY, LAWRENCE

 

Tessa Schnelle, originally from the small town of Center Point, Iowa, is a fourth-year student pharmacist at The University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas.  Prior to attending pharmacy school, she graduated from MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology.  Tessa has been involved in the American Pharmacists Association – Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) locally and currently serves on the 2019-2020 Awards National Standing Committee.  At the local level, she served two terms as the Administrative Operations Vice-President and has recently assumed the role of chair of the Kansas New Practitioner Network in collaboration with the Kansas Pharmacists Association.

During her time as a student pharmacist, she has been an active member of several pharmacy organizations including Phi Lambda Sigma Honor Society, Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists, Kansas Council of Health-System Pharmacy and the Kansas Pharmacists Association.  In addition to her leadership in APhA-ASP, Tessa has served as Region 6 Liaison, Member Engagement Committee Member and Beta Iota Chapter President for Phi Lambda Sigma and as her class representative on The University of Kansas School of Pharmacy Curriculum Committee.    

Tessa is currently employed as a clinical pharmacy intern at Olathe Health System.  She is passionate about working with vulnerable patient populations and expanding the role of the pharmacists on the interprofessional health care team.  She hopes to pursue a career in ambulatory care or health-system administration.  Tessa would like to thank her family, friends, mentors and professors for their continuous support as she embraces her calling.
