Alvin Leung

PACIFIC UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF PHARMACY

Alvin Leung is a final-year student pharmacist at Pacific University School of Pharmacy in Hillsboro, Oregon. Originally from Oakland California, he experienced firsthand the toils of drug diversion and made a commitment to serve the underserved. Mentored by a local community pharmacist, he found how pharmacists can not only help in their medication use but can also advocate for policy changes that serve the local community. Taking that passion, he pursued leadership opportunities being actively involved in American Pharmacists Association Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) locally and nationally. Alvin served as the Chapter President On the local level, and he currently serves on the 2019-2020 National Standing Committee on Policy.

Alvin has also been actively involved with other professional organizations, including the Phi Delta Chi, Phi Lambda Sigma, Oregon Society of Health-System Pharmacists, and Oregon State Pharmacists Association. As a leader, he believes that it is important to not “rest on your laurels,” because there’s always more work to be done. In addition to professional and organizational involvement, Alvin has 8 years of work experience in community pharmacy and biopharmaceutical industry.

Upon graduation, Alvin hopes to combine his passion for patient care and leadership by pursuing a PGY-1 practice residency upon graduation with an interest in board certification following the program. He also has an interest in pursuing a fellowship or further specialty training in PGY2 in administration or pediatrics.
