Melanie Hunter

Melanie Hunter is a third-year pharmacy student at the University of Utah College of Pharmacy. During her time in pharmacy school, she has served as APhA-ASP Operation Diabetes Committee Member, Operation OTC Medicine Safety Chair, President-Elect, and President. In 2019, she was asked to present at the Region 7 Midyear Regional Meeting about her OTC Medicine Safety efforts and was also awarded the OTC Medicine Safety Regional Award for the chapter. Melanie also took part in the IPSF student exchange program this past summer and traveled to Spain to carry out global health research. She is a member of Phi Lambda Sigma and has had many opportunities to create and lead successful teams.
Melanie loves being involved in APhA-ASP and feels it has shaped her pharmacy passions in many ways. She loves interacting with patients and is proud to be part of the most accessible health care profession. Currently, she works in a community pharmacy and hopes to pursue a career in ambulatory care pharmacy after graduation. She is passionate about chronic disease state management and loves to empower patients to take charge of their health. She has a soft spot for cystic fibrosis patients and also dreams of becoming a diabetes educator. Additionally, she has interests in outcomes research, leadership, and advocacy.
