Brett norvell

SOUTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY EDWARDSVILLE SCHOOL OF PHARMACY

Brett Norvell is a second professional year pharmacy student at the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville School of Pharmacy (SIUE SOP). Brett works as both a community pharmacy technician at Walgreens and a hospital pharmacy technician at Alton Memorial Hospital while attending pharmacy school. He also aids in genomic research at the school of pharmacy studying links between genetic mutations and cancer development.

During his first year of pharmacy school, Brett was greatly impressed by the positive community and pharmacy outcomes produced by the work of his APhA chapter, and became the President-elect in the coming election so that he could take a commanding role in being part of the action. He will continue as the chapter President next in the Fall 2019 semester. In addition to his work in his APhA-ASP chapter, Brett serves as the Missions Promoter of the SIUE Christian Pharmacists Fellowship International chapter.

Brett is deeply passionate about spending time in the community – whether it be aiding in events with his church, volunteering at Summer children’s camps, or even working to help his peers in pharmacy school advance themselves in their skills and education. His favorite of these activities is helping with a Summer horse camp for children and young adults with Down Syndrome. Brett plans to specialize in pediatric pharmacy and work in a practice setting where he can take care of patients of a diverse range of abilities and health needs.
