APhA Foundation Announces New Endowed Scholarship

WASHINGTON, DC— The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Foundation today announced the establishment of the Hamilton, Harris and Tucker APhA-ASP Chapter President Scholarship.  Through an initial $25,000 endowment, one scholarship will be awarded each year to the most outstanding APhA Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) chapter president in the United States.

Scholarship funds are made possible by Ed and Ann Hamilton, Betty Jean Harris, and Timothy and Diane Tucker who created the scholarship in recognition of their long-term commitment to advancing the profession of pharmacy at the local, state and national level.

“Drs. Harris and Tucker, and I have had the privilege of serving our profession in a leadership role for many wonderful years,” said Ed L. Hamilton, PharmD, FAPhA.  “APhA is blessed with talented and passionate APhA-ASP chapter presidents across the country and we are excited to be able honor and recognize the most outstanding student leader.”

The Hamilton, Harris and Tucker APhA-ASP Scholarship recipient must be enrolled in an accredited school or college of pharmacy and demonstrate outstanding leadership, academic excellence, pharmacy association involvement and community service.

“This generous endowment from Harris, the Hamiltons and Tuckers is a true gift for the next generations of pharmacist leaders,” said APhA Foundation Executive Director, Elizabeth K. Keyes, RPh. “The scholarship will help students pursue their dreams and empower them for leadership roles in the pharmacy profession.”
