Creighton University

 

Shayna Skokan is a 3rd year student pharmacist at Creighton University. Prior to pharmacy school, she received her Bachelor of Arts in Healthy Lifestyle Management from Creighton University.
During her time as a student pharmacist, Shayna has been actively involved in the American Pharmacists Association – Academy of Student Pharmacists. She is currently serving as the APhA-ASP chapter president, attended all APhA national and regional meetings virtually, wrote an article for the APhA Student Pharmacist Magazine, and was the OTC Medicine Safety Operation chair during her first year of pharmacy school. Shayna has played an integral role in creating a Diversity and Inclusion committee as well as new patient care events including elementary school medicine safety presentations and Naloxone training for the University’s public safety officers within her local APhA Chapter. She is also very involved in other pharmacy organizations and holds various positions including Rho Chi historian, Phi Lambda Sigma treasurer, Kappa Psi community service chair, Southwest Iowa Pharmacists Association board member, Student Society of Health System Pharmacists and Jays 4 Pediatrics member.

Outside of pharmacy organizations, Shayna is very invovled in her community. She currently works at HyVee Pharmacy and the Omaha VA Medical Center. She volunteers at Healing Gift Clinic and the Magis Clinic to provide healthcare for underserved indivudals. Shayna has been conducting an independent study and will be presenting the poster at the APhA Annual Meeting this March. Her professional interests include advocating for pharmacists and leveraging the use of lifestyle/preventative medicine within the field of pharmacy.
