University of Florida College of Pharmacy 

 

Shirly Ly is a third-year student pharmacist at the University of Florida College of Pharmacy on the Gainesville Campus. Prior to attending pharmacy school, she graduated from the University of Florida where she received a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Cell Science and a minor in Nutritional Sciences. 

During her time in pharmacy school, Shirly has been passionately involved in the American Pharmacists Association – Academy of Student Pharmacists and it has played a vital role in her growth as a student pharmacist. She serves as the Chapter President and as a member of the National Standing Committee on Communications. She has attended Midyear Regional Meetings (MRM) and Annual meetings. 

In addition to being actively involved within APhA-ASP, Shirly also serves on the Student Affairs Council of the Florida Pharmacy Association (FPA) and is a member of the Communications and Legal & Regulatory Councils of the Florida Society of Health-System Pharmacists (FSHP). Shirly is also an active member of the Phi Lambda Sigma (PLS) Leadership Society, American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), and American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP). Shirly has tremendous passion for professional and leadership development.

Outside of school, Shirly enjoys volunteering at Equal Access Clinic, which is a student-run free clinic aimed to serve the underserved population, as well as the opportunity to prepare and administer vaccines to frontline workers and the elderly population at several COVID-19 vaccine clinics. She is engaged in various community service projects and hopes to improve access to healthcare within her community. In her free time, Shirly likes to listen to music and podcasts, cooking, and checking out new restaurants in town.
 
Shirly’s professional interests include oncology and pharmacogenomics and plan to pursue a health-system pharmacy administration residency post-graduation. Shirly is grateful to her family, friends, and mentors for their unwavering support in her endeavors as a life-long learner in this rewarding profession.
