Research Focus
Chronic Disease Prevention and Management
Research on chronic disease prevention and management will be the core focus of the APhA Foundation’s work. Funding will be actively pursued to research the following areas, particularly in patients with multiple co-morbidities:
- Cardiovascular Disease Prevention and Management
- Chronic Pain Management
- Diabetes Prevention and Management
- Mental Health Management
- Obesity & Weight Management
Healthcare Issues
Aside from chronic disease prevention and management, the APhA Foundation will focus on emerging issues in healthcare in which pharmacists can play a key role. The APhA Foundation will also examine ways to include a public health focus in research initiatives. A specific focus will be placed on the following:
- Medication Adherence and Appropriate Use
- Medication Therapy Management
- Oral Health
- Patient Self-Management / Self-Care
- Pharmacogenomics
- Specialty Medications
- Transitions of Care
