Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy
Michelle Leatherwood is a final-year student pharmacist at the Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy (MSOP). Prior to pharmacy school, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry for the Health Sciences from Belmont University. Since entering pharmacy school at MSOP, she has also earned a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy Studies. Michelle has been actively involved in the American Pharmacists Association – Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) on both a local and national level throughout pharmacy school. At the local level, she served as P1 Member-At-Large, President-Elect, and as President in her third year. Currently, she serves as Chair of the APhA-ASP National Awards Standing Committee.
Outside of APhA-ASP, Michelle has also served as the Chapter Vice President of Phi Lambda Sigma, MSOP orientation leader, and Chaplain of the Gamma Zeta chapter of Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity, Inc. During her time as a student pharmacist, she has been an active member of several pharmacy organizations, including the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, American College of Clinical Pharmacy, Alabama Pharmacists Association, and the Alabama Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
She is excited to finish APPE rotations working in Student Development at APhA Headquarters in Washington, D.C. Michelle is pursuing a PGY-1 pharmacy practice residency and is additionally interested in academia in hopes of impacting future student pharmacists.
