Project Proposal: The potential role of community pharmacists in identifying gaps in cardiovascular therapy and vaccine recommendations in patients with diabetes
“I hope that the efforts of my research proposal will demonstrate a pharmacist’s ability to make guideline-based recommendations to reduce cardiovascular risk in diabetic patients and communicate it to both patients and their respective healthcare providers. ”
Navya Clement, PharmD, RPh currently serves as the Resident Pharmacist at Walgreens/MCPHS University in Boston, MA. Dr. Clement hopes to assess the impact of a community pharmacist’s interventions in optimizing the care of patients with diabetes through vaccinations and recommending pharmacological therapies for cardiovascular disease risk and management in accordance with 2018 ADA recommendations.
“In addition, I hope that my research will allow patients to recognize the role of a community pharmacist in being able to optimize a diabetic patient’s care by resolving potential barriers to adherence, administering ACIP-recommended immunizations, and providing disease state and medication counseling.”
