APhA Foundation Announces 2023 Pinnacle Award Recipients

Washington, DC — The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Foundation today announced the recipients of the 2023 Pinnacle Awards.

Established in 1998, the Pinnacle Awards celebrate significant contributions to the medication use process leading to enhancements such as increasing patient adherence, reducing adverse drug events, promoting the use of national treatment guidelines, improving patient outcomes, and enhancing communication among the members of the health care team.

“The APhA Foundation is delighted to honor this year’s recipients and their important work to optimize medication usage,” said Benjamin Bluml, RPh, APhA Foundation Executive Director and Senior Vice President, Research & Innovation. “For more than 25 years, the Pinnacle Awards have recognized excellence in medication use with an emphasis on transformative innovations that include pharmacists in improving health care within the communities they serve.”

2023 Pinnacle Award Recipients and Categories

Stephen F. Eckel, PharmD, MHA
Category I: Individual Award for Career Achievement presented to an individual who has demonstrated exceptional leadership in enhancing health care quality and medication use.

Correct Rx Pharmacy Services, Inc.
Category II: Award presented to Group Practices, Health Systems, or Healthcare Corporations in recognition of a significant scientific contribution and/or quality improvement project.

St. Vincent de Paul Charitable Pharmacy
Category III: Award presented to Voluntary Health Agencies, Nonprofit Organizations, Associations, Government Agencies or Public/Private Partnerships that demonstrated approaches to assist patients and their caregivers in achieving better outcomes from their medications.

The Innovations in Pharmacy Practice Lecture, delivered by Hui W. Seo, PharmD, MBA, BCPS, CCHP, and Kareem Karara, PharmD, BCPS, CCHP. Seo is Chief Clinical Officer and Karara is Georgia Statewide Clinical Pharmacy Director for Correct Rx Pharmacy Services, Inc.
