Pharmacy Leaders Presented with Jacob W. Miller Award

WASHINGTON, DC – The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Foundation today announced the 2020 Jacob W. Miller Award recipients. Calvin H. Knowlton, BScPharm, MDiv, PhD, FAPhA, and Orsula V. Knowlton, PharmD, MBA, FAPhA, were selected for advancing the APhA Foundation’s mission through involvement in its programs, support of its initiatives, or leadership in carrying out its mission.

Established in 2000, the award honors Jacob W. Miller who held positions in state and national pharmacy organizations and was APhA Foundation president from 1990-2000.

“We thank the APhA Foundation Board of Directors for its vote of confidence in recognizing Orsula and me for this Award,” said Calvin Knowlton, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Tabula Rasa Healthcare (TBHC).  “Like many members of APhA, we support patients through our team of pharmacists who work tirelessly every day to improve the safety of medication regimens. The Foundation has been the petri dish for so many professional endeavors that have advanced the practice of pharmacy.  It continues to be a vanguard and a bulwark of support providing us with outcome-focused, pharmacist-centric experiential studies and projects.  Pharmacists are showing amazing outcomes, which will not go unnoticed.”

Orsula Knowlton, TRHC’s Co-founder, President and Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer, added, “I envision a time when pharmacists are the most sought-after member of the healthcare team. We are beginning to see this already, through community pharmacists using novel software, including Tabula Rasa HealthCare’s medication therapy management tools, to understand how better to serve patients, thereby enhancing medication safety and care.”

“We are thrilled to present Cal and Orsula with the 2020 Jacob W. Miller award,” said APhA Foundation Executive Director, Elizabeth K. Keyes. “The Foundation initiatives they have led and supported have helped pave the way for future pharmacy leaders and advance the pharmacy profession.”
