2023 Incentive Grant Recipient

2023 Incentive Grant Recipient: Ethan Case, PharmD

Project Proposal: Assessing Pharmacist Knowledge, Comfort, and Willingness in Prescribing Smoking Cessation Therapy

Ethan Case, PharmD, currently serves as the PGY1 Community Pharmacy Resident at University of Kansas and Balls Foods Stores at Hen House in Olathe, KS.

"I wanted to investigate current pharmacist knowledge, willingness, and comfort in prescribing smoking cessation therapy.  We have been behind the lines for a long time, but more and more states are seeing the impact pharmacists can have and expanding our rights. Hopefully as more data comes out on how effective we can be as healthcare providers, the industry will have a different view of us. Showing we are capable and changing the mindset is the first part!"

"This program is great for the profession in presenting up-and-coming pharmacy professionals a chance to make an impact in the future of pharmacy. Having the opportunity means the world and receiving the grant shows support for future generations of pharmacists to continue and strive for great things."

"A community pharmacist is the most accessible healthcare provider. In 2022 smoking cessation therapy should be as easy to access as tobacco products themselves, and I believe pharmacists are capable of filling this role."
