APhA Foundation Announces 2023 Academy Research Grant Recipient

Washington, DC — The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Foundation today announced the inaugural recipient of the Academy Research Grant, Macary Marciniak, PharmD, BCACP, BCPS, FAPhA. Marciniak’s proposal is titled, “Student Pharmacists as Reproductive Health Champions (SPARC):
Igniting Pharmacist-Initiated Hormonal Contraception in Community-based Settings.”

“The APhA Foundation is very pleased to award Dr. Marciniak with this grant funding for her innovative proposal focused on pharmacist-initiated hormonal contraception,” said Benjamin Bluml, RPh, APhA Foundation Executive Director and Senior Vice President, Research & Innovation. “The selection committee was highly impressed with her plan to integrate student pharmacists into these community pharmacy practices and develop a toolkit that others may learn from.”

Established in 2023, The APhA Foundation's Academy Research Grants program provides opportunities for innovative practice-based research for members of APhA's Academy of Pharmacy Practice and Management and Academy of Pharmaceutical Research and Science. This research will help build evidence to seed ideas for future APhA Foundation research.

“The Academy Research Grants program provides a unique benefit for APhA members like Dr. Marciniak, and we’re confident that many more APhA academy members will be involved in future years,” said Bluml.
