2024 Incentive Grant Recipient

2024 Incentive Grant Recipient: Alyssa Cosselmon, PharmD

Project Proposal: The Impact of Technician-Assisted Medication Therapy Management in a Federally Qualified Health Center

Alyssa Cosselmon is a PGY1 Community Pharmacy Resident with Baldwin Family Health Care in White Cloud, MI. She graduated from Ferris State University College of Pharmacy.

"I am looking forward to working closely with our pharmacy technicians to provide safe, high-quality care to underserved patients."

"Pharmacists of federally qualified health centers are tasked with providing high quality care and meeting rigorous quality measures using limited funding and scarce resources, therefore, it is imperative that pharmacists are stewards of efficiency and that pharmacy programs are developed to be self-sustaining so that the revenue generated can be used to further expand the services available to patients. Pharmacy technicians are an invaluable yet underutilized resource for pharmacists, and they have not only the skill to assist with medication therapy management but also the desire to participate in clinical activities to further help manage the care of the patients that live in their communities. By effectively using technicians as extensions of the pharmacist, we can provide a higher standard of care and positive patient outcomes to underserved communities which have high health disparities."

"I am honored to be a recipient of an Incentive Grant this year and I look forward to supporting our technicians as we strengthen the practice of pharmacy and provide a higher standard of care to our patients. Receiving this grant increases the number of opportunities that we can provide to our technicians and patients and will help immensely to develop a sustainable service that we can provide to our community."
