2022 Incentive Grant Recipient

2022 Incentive Grant Recipient: Kathryn Schwaller, PharmD Candidate

Project Proposal: Integration of Pharmacy Immunization Services at a Local Refugee/Immigration Center in an Urban Setting in Ohio

Kathryn Schwaller, third-year student pharmacist, currently serves as the SCCP President at Cedarville University School of Pharmacy in Cedarville, Ohio.

"As students, we get to join the mission of the local immigration center to “Be Hope” by providing a local community access to important preventative healthcare in addition to connecting others to valuable healthcare-related resources. "

The heart behind this project stems from knowing that there is a local community in need of healthcare tailored to them. Each year, the Cedarville local SCCP Chapter seeks to find a way they can give back to our community, and receiving this grant allows them to meet a prevalent need by providing flu vaccines and connecting community members with local healthcare services. They are grateful to work with Hometown Pharmacy and the Be Hope Immigration Center to make a difference in their community and to serve an underserved population.

"I am most excited to work with a variety of organizations that hold a lot of meaning for me! I get to bring students from Cedarville’s School of Pharmacy to a unique environment that we haven’t been able to work with before and that is an exciting endeavor. I know that without this grant, we would not be able to afford to provide this service to the local refugee community, and it is gratefully received."
