Project Proposal: Community Pharmacy Staff Knowledge and Accessibility of Mental Health Resources

Lainey (Alexandra) Ruby, PharmD currently serves as the Community Pharmacy Resident with The University of Kansas and Balls Food Stores in Overland Park, Kansas. She graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

"My motivation for my research proposal came from unexpectedly losing a family member to suicide earlier this year. I wanted to do something impactful that can be continued in the future after my project is complete."

She hopes her project will help pharmacy staff become more knowledgeable about the mental health resources that are now available in their pharmacy. If a patient comes up to the pharmacy with a mental health concern, she hopes her project will prepare pharmacy staff to use mental health resources to refer the patient to appropriate professional help and self-help.
