APhA Foundation Announces 2022 Jacob W. Miller Award Recipient

WASHINGTON, DC –The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Foundation has announced Leonard L. Edloe, PharmD, ThM, the 2022 recipient of the APhA Foundation’s Jacob W. Miller Award. Established in 2000, the award recognizes individuals who help to advance the APhA Foundation’s mission through their involvement and leadership in its longstanding programs and new initiatives.

“This award is important to me because I know what it means, and because of the man this award is named after. Thank you for this great honor and for recognizing my work with the APhA Foundation.”

Leonard served as pharmacist and CEO of his family pharmacies, Edloe’s Professional Pharmacies in Richmond, Virginia. He became active in association work as a student at Howard University, serving as president of Region II and was the first African American to serve as a national officer in the Student Section on APhA. In 1982, he was one of the youngest pharmacists elected to the APhA Board of Trustees.  And in 2012, he was elected to the APhA Foundation Board of Directors where he served as chairman of the governance committee, vice president, and president.  He is currently president-elect of the Virginia Pharmacists Association.

“Leonard is an incredible person, leader and role model,” said APhA Foundation Executive Director, Mitchel C. Rothholz, RPh, MBA. “We are proud to present him with the Jake Miller award which truly honors his commitment to the APhA Foundation and the profession.”
