Rothholz Family Immunization Education Fund

STATEMENT

In 2007, the American Pharmacists Association Foundation established the Immunization Fund to support APhA’s more decades of leadership in advancing pharmacists’ role in improving our nation’s health.

The Fund was renamed the Rothholz Family Immunization Education Fund in June 2022 to recognize Mitchel C. Rothholz for his many years of service to APhA and APhA Foundation. As a leader in both the immunization and pharmacy professions, Rothholz has been nationally recognized as an expert on pharmacy-based immunization delivery and as an advocate for the profession of pharmacy on numerous issues.

The Rothholz Family Immunization Education Fund supports pharmacists and pharmacy team members conducting vaccine activities as an educator, facilitator, or immunizer to improve the public health of individuals and communities through APhA Foundation programs such as the annual Innovation in Immunization Practices Incentive Grant. These grants allow practitioners and student pharmacists to explore innovations specifically designed to improve immunization-related practices and engagement within immunization neighborhoods.

Over the years, Incentive Grants have assisted with protecting underserved, high-risk, or vulnerable populations from preventable diseases. Past recipients took several approaches to improve their communities by analyzing payer models, reporting requirements, or practitioner knowledge. In addition, grant recipients were successfully able to expand access to vaccines for influenza, pneumococcal infection, human papillomavirus, zoster, Tdap, and more.
