Project Proposal: Impact on glycemic control in patients with Type 2 Diabetes using student-run teleinsulin programs in medically underserved communities in rural Mississippi

“Through my research project, I hope to be able to evaluate the effects of a student-run teleinsulin program in a rural health community. Teleinsulin at large academic medical centers are increasingly common, but I hope to be able to evaluate whether we can replicate the same results in a federally qualified health center with a predominantly pharmacy student run service. Pharmacy students serve as important learners and members of a patient care team!”

Lily Van, PharmD, currently serves as the PGY1 Community Pharmacy Resident at the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy in Jackson, MS.

Dr. Van hopes to determine if a student-run teleinsulin program can have a positive impact on glycemic control in patients with Type 2 Diabetes.
