Project Proposal: An Evaluation of Pharmacist Interventions in an Enhanced Vaccine Workflow to Improve Patient Care in a Rural Independent Pharmacy

“I hope to increase the quantity and types of interventions made by community pharmacists by streamlining pharmacy workflow through the implementation of standardized medication reviews conducted during routine vaccinations.”

Samantha Kerr, PharmD, currently serves as the PGY-1 Community Pharmacy Resident at Richmond Hill Pharmacy in Richmond Hill, GA.

Dr. Kerr hopes to improve pharmacy workflow and efficiency and increase documented pharmacist interventions by conducting medication reviews and clinical interventions while patients are waiting to receive routine vaccinations.

"Conducting a medication review and packaging patient care services with routine vaccinations capitalizes on often-wasted opportunities, paves the way for potentially improved patient outcomes,  increases overall pharmacy efficiency, and provides better coordination of care for patients."
