Melissa Luechtefeld is a third-year student pharmacist at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Pharmacy. Originally from Washington, Missouri, Melissa moved in 2009 to the University of Missouri-Kansas City to begin college as a Provisional Pharmacy Student and serve as a Campus Ambassador. She was then accepted into UMKC’s Satellite School of Pharmacy at Mizzou in Columbia, MO where she played trombone in Marching Mizzou, participated in the 2011 San Antonio AACP poster presentations, worked with faculty to publish research in Currents in Pharmacy Teaching and Learning, and traveled to the Dominican Republic for a medical mission trip with the Public Health Organization. Recently, Melissa’s team placed first in the local Student Compounding Competition and proudly intends to represent UMKC at the national competition in March of 2014. In addition, she has remained on the Dean’s list throughout her academic career and is a member of Phi Lambda Sigma, Rho Chi, the Missouri Pharmacy Association, and is currently serving a second year as the International Vice President of her APhA-ASP Chapter. Upon graduation in 2015, Melissa wants to begin giving back to her community as a trusted pharmacist.
