Marlene is a second-year pharmacy student at William Carey University School of Pharmacy in Biloxi, Mississippi. During her time as a student pharmacist, she has participated in many organizations including American Pharmacists Association, Christian Pharmacists Fellowship International, American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, Phi Lamba Sigma, and American College of Clinical Pharmacy where she currently serves as chapter President. Marlene is actively involved with the APhA-ASP chapter at WCU serving as VP of Patient Care overseeing all Operations and most recently attended Capitol Day in Jackson, MS to speak to representatives about pharmacy. Marlene is passionate about involvement in school and the community such as volunteering at multiple health fairs, awareness walks, and more notably a mission trip in San Pedro Yepocapa, Guatemala with Praying Pelicans Missions. She will begin a residency track APPE position with Children's Hospital New Orleans in July where she will continue to advance her clinical skills. She is immensely appreciative of the opportunities she has experienced thus far and looks forward to continue to grow as a leader and pharmacist to serve others in this career path.Â
Outside of pharmacy school, Marlene enjoys helping her church, spending time with family and friends, watching movies, traveling to new cities, and teaching dance class. After graduation, she hopes to pursue a PGY1 and PGY2 residency with focus such as pediatrics, emergency medicine, transplant, critical care, infectious disease, and oncology. She hopes that she is able to help care for patients and make a positive impact in their lives.
