Project Proposal: Pandemic preparedness among community pharmacists across South Carolina

Dana Nelson, PharmD, currently serves as the PGY-1 Community Pharmacy Resident at The Medicine Mart in West Columbia, South Carolina.

In the United States, there is limited data regarding pandemic preparedness among pharmacists, and in today’s time, there is crucial need for this information.

COVID-19 has been a raging topic for months, and as pharmacists, it is important that we stay up-to-date on guidelines, recommendations, and to have a plan in place to maintain patient care during emergent situations. Patients rely on us to provide care and educational needs, so it is important for pharmacists to have and implement a pandemic preparedness plan.

I am excited, and so thankful, to have received this Incentive Grant so that we may be able to help improve pharmacist preparedness to respond in pandemic situations. The results gained from this project will identify and develop implementation strategies to help improve pandemic preparedness among community pharmacies.
