The APhA Foundation has a number of programs it offers to pharmacists to assist them in advancing their pharmacy practice. These include:
Incentive Grants - Provides seed funding to pharmacists who want to establish or support already existing patient care services within their pharmacy practice.
Advanced Practice Institute: Diabetes - an annual educational and networking forum for pharmacists to hear about current trends in pharmacy practice.
National Clinical Issues Forum: Metabolic Syndrome - an annual networking forum that provides pharmacist with the latest in clinical guidelines and emerging therapies as it relates to metabolic syndrome, as well as an opportunity to network with pharmacists across the country.
Pinnacle Awards - Annual recognition program for contributions to healthcare quality through the medication use process.
Student Pharmacist Scholarship Program - Scholarship program to recognize those students who choose to invest their time in active involvement with their school’s APhA - ASP chapter to help shape the future of the profession while managing the demands of a full-time pharmacy curriculum.
Asheville Project - a community pharmacy-based, diabetes management program taking place in Asheville, NC that has shown to improve overall health, reduce absenteeism, shorten hospital stays and reduce health care costs.
Diabetes Ten City Challenge - an innovative project conducted by the APhA Foundation that employers and communities can use to fight diabetes and reduce health care costs.
HealthMapRX - a service of the APhA Foundation, the program is based off of previous research by the APhA Foundation and the Asheville Project. The success of this model, and five replications throughout the nation, has taught savvy business leaders that health care can be an investment in well-being rather than an expense for sickness.
Stick With the Guidelines - a pilot a project aimed at combating the effects heart disease has on America’s workforce that is being conducted by the APhA Foundation with grant support from the American Heart Association.
Project ImPACT - Project ImPACT is a process of care requiring a collaborative effort among three essential health care parties: the patient (or caregiver), the patient's physician, and the pharmacist. The Foundation's landmark demonstration project: Project ImPACT: Hyperlipidemia is the basis for many of the Foundation's current research projects.
Quality Center - The APhA Foundation's Quality Center is dedicated to supporting and fostering research that improves quality in medication use, in particular, how the pharmacist can be used as a solution to managing the complex risks associated with medication use.
Practice-based Research - Many of the APhA Foundation's research projects utilized practice –based research approach. The Foundation invites pharmacists to learn more about this process and get involved!
