
2013 Pinnacle Award Recipients Announced
The
American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Foundation has announced the
recipients of the 2013 Pinnacle Awards. The Pinnacle Awards, established
in 1998 by the APhA Foundation, celebrate significant contributions to
the medication use process through increasing patient adherence,
reducing drug misadventures, promoting the use of national treatment
guidelines, improving patient outcomes or enhancing communication among
the members of the health care team. Pinnacle Award recipients are
selected in three categories: Individual Career Achievement; Group
Practice-Health System-Corporation; and Government Agency-Nonprofit
Organization-Association.

Establishment of the Ton Hoek Endowed Scholarship
The APhA Foundation has established an
endowed scholarship to memorialize Mr. A.J.M (Ton) Hoek's commitment to
the global community of pharmacists. The Ton Hoek Endowed Scholarship
will provide an annual stipend for a student or resident pharmacist from
the United States to attend the International Pharmaceutical Federation
(FIP) Congress. For

2013 Incentive Grant Recipients Announced
The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Foundation has
announced the recipients of the 2013 Incentive Grant awards. The
awarded grants offer pharmacists seed
money to implement or support innovative patient care services within
their pharmacy practice. The awards are given out in four categories:
Residents and their Preceptors, Practitioner Innovation in
Pharmaceutical Care, Innovation in Immunization Practices and Student
Pharmacist Innovation in Immunization Practices. Read

APhA Foundation Convenes Meeting of Committee to Advance
Pharmacogenomics in Pharmacy Practice
The APhA Foundation convened a meeting of the Committee to Advance
Pharmacogenomics in Pharmacy Practice on November 7-8 in Washington,
D.C. The committee was recently established by the Foundation with the
main goal of developing a strategic plan to advance the translation and
application of the science of pharmacogenomics in pharmacy. Twelve
experts in the field of pharmacogenomics were invited to serve as
members of the consortium and to provide insight on the various ways in
which pharmacists can contribute to pharmacogenomics.
The Fellows Wall of Honor
The Foundation is establishing a permanent display to recognize the
professional achievements and organizational involvement of APhA
Fellows. The Fellows
Wall of Honor will be located in the center hall of the APhA
headquarters in Washington, DC, where visitors to our historic building
